Field & Stream x Gokey Boots Review
For over 124 years, Boyt Harness Company has built a reputation on unwavering quality and field-tested durability. That same promise carries through in the Field & Stream x Gokey boot collection—an exciting evolution of Gokey’s storied heritage that dates back to 1850. Known for handcrafted, bench-made leather goods, Gokey remains synonymous with boots built to last a lifetime.
The new Field & Stream x Gokey line honors that legacy while embracing modern bootmaking efficiency. Crafted in the Dominican Republic to make Gokey quality accessible to more outdoorsmen, these boots blend tradition and innovation—two collections, one commitment to quality.
Field-Tested: The Legend and the Hill Country
We’ve had the chance to put two boots in this collection to the test: the leather and canvas Legend and the all-leather Hill Country. Both models show the hallmarks of Gokey’s DNA—rugged materials, thoughtful design, and workmanship that stands out from the crowd.
Field & Stream x Gokey Boots – First Impressions
The new Field & Stream x Gokey line of upland boots—brought to you by the legendary Boyt Harness Company—is a standout collaboration built for serious bird hunters. We’ve been field-testing two key models in the lineup: the leather and canvas “Legend” and the all-leather “Hill Country”. Both are purpose-built upland boots that blend heritage design with premium materials.
A Short Break-In for Long-Term Comfort
As with any quality boot, there’s a short break-in period, but both pairs quickly molded to the foot and became more comfortable with every outing. These boots are lightweight, supportive, and built to go the distance. Whether you’re scouting habitat or pushing through dense cover, they feel responsive and ready for the task.

The Legend: Light and Agile
The Legend is designed for the upland hunter who values mobility. With 20oz. dry wax, water-repellent canvas uppers and oil-tanned leather bottoms, the Legend strikes a perfect balance of weight and durability. Features like hand-sewn moccasin construction, a leather-covered cushioned insole, and a lightweight self-cleaning sole make these boots ideal for early season hunts where breathability and lightweight matter most.

The Hill Country: Classic Leather Upland Performance
The Hill Country boot leans traditional in all the right ways. It’s constructed entirely from oil-tanned leather and fully lined with calfskin leather. This 8-inch boot offers excellent support and long-lasting durability. From the antique brass eyelets and waxed bomber laces to the full leather midsole and cushioned insole, everything about the Hill Country says upland heritage—modernized for today’s hunter.

Craftsmanship You Can Feel
Both boots showcase impeccable workmanship, from the stitching to the finishing details. The hand-sewn moccasin construction provides both comfort and ruggedness. These are the kind of boots that look great out of the box and only get better with age and use. And the lightweight soles really do shed debris, keeping you nimble in thick cover.
We haven’t hit the grouse woods with them yet—but based on early testing, we can’t wait.
